So you want to protest against those who insult the Prophet (s)?
It is truly fascinating how people get so angry at those who insult the Prophet (s) outside our own religion… but what about our own religion? What about those who have insulted the Prophet (s) from within our own community but are excused because they have the word “Sheikh” or “Imam” before their name?
There are certain texts which are considered almost as holy as the Qur’an itself which contain some of the most slanderous allegations against the final messenger of Allah!
Why are we so angered by some silly movie or a cartoon or something of a total insignificance from a group of people who bear no weight in our lives?
Why aren’t we holding protests against those who claim the Prophet (s) would marry a 6 year old?!
Why aren’t we protesting against those who claim our Holy Muhammad al Mustafa (s) would sleep with his wives while they were on their period!?
And the slanders are in their tens or even hundreds. But they are not even accusations that are rumours, they are considered as fundamentals of beliefs by the Muslims!
The Prophet (s) was illiterate, he frowned angrily at the blind, he punctured the eyeballs of “apostates” with heated nails and left their corpses to boil in the desert, that beating your wife will not make you accountable, that he was possessed by a Jewish magician and would imagine himself having sex when he was not actually or that he even tried to commit suicide and throw himself off a mountain!
Why aren’t we protesting against those who have levelled such claims against him? It’s almost double standards… Because someone who is considered a grand scholar or a righteous companion, that gives them the right to lie and spread filth about Muhammad (s) but as for some stupid movie, suddenly we go around burning down buildings and assassinating their representatives in our countries?
I don’t understand how we can convince people our Prophet (s) was a great man with such things spread as his “biography.”
If you want to defend your Prophet (s), find out who he really was first before you try and correct other people’s views. What’s the point in saying “no he wasn’t like this, he actually was like this” in reference to the above accusations considered sahih.
I know many people will read this and just complain about sectarianism but I truly don’t care, if the man who saved you and took you out from the grips of destruction means nothing more to you other than what sect says what about him then your priorities are wrong. Learn about your Prophet (s) from different perspectives and pick the biography that seems like the best representative of who he was;
And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of moral character. 68/4
